To reduce serum phosphate in patients with ESRD FOSRENOL Chewable Tablets:
Familiar dosing schedule. Flexible dosing strengths.

  • Mealtime dosing schedule1 patients are used to
  • Tablets available in 500 mg, 750 mg, and 1000 mg

  • Start with a divided total daily dose of 1500 mg, taken with or immediately after meals
  • Titrate the dose every 2 to 3 weeks until an acceptable serum phosphate level is reached
  • Monitor serum phosphate levels during titration and regularly afterward
  • Doses were generally titrated in increments of 750 mg/day. In clinical studies with the FOSRENOL
    Chewable Tablet, most patients required a total daily dose of 1500 mg to 3000 mg to reduce serum phosphorus levels to < 6.0 mg/dL

Tablets must be chewed or crushed completely and must not be swallowed whole1

  • Instruct patients to chew or crush the tablet completely to reduce the risk of serious adverse gastrointestinal events
  • Patients with poor dentition may be prescribed the oral powder or advised to crush the tablet completely
  • Advise patients to take FOSRENOL with or immediately after meals
